Porsche's Carrera GT is the result of a two-year sabattical from works involvement in top level motorsport, all the great German marque's competition resources having been ploughed into the development of this technological tour de force since their 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours victory. It was initially conceived as a race car, however, constantly evolving regulations dictated this state of the art concept becomes a limited production model for the road. Production is scheduled to begin late in 2003, but if you can't afford the quarter of a million pound list price, rest assured that Porsche’s series production models will benefit from the lessons learnt with this magnificent new supercar.
