It seems that Porsche is already in a finished stage for both the next generation Porsche 997 Turbo and GT3. First of all, the new Turbo has been caught on a parking near the Porsche factory. As can be seen on the photo on the left, the car is still a bit camouflaged. As for the new GT3, photos keep coming and it seems the release date is just a matter of months and not a year as published earlier. I expect both cars to attend the IAA this year at Frankfurt. Looks promising! Written by Yves on 2005-03-21 17:14:46 Can't wait to see the final version of it, in speed yellow! | what to do Written by abdelhassan on 2005-07-06 22:11:25 Now, I know I will get a lot of flack for this but: with all the bells and whistles offered by the GT3 why would anyone who is serious about sports cars pick a 911 Turbo over a GT3. Besides being a bit more comfortable I dont see it. Twenty to thirty thou less, a 0.2 slower 0-60 and similiar top speeds.... as much as I love the big daddy TT the GT3 will be the winner for me. | Ever driven a GT3? Written by 996 Fan on 2005-11-20 14:09:47 With respect abdellhassan, the comparison is like apples and oranges. The GT3 is a pedigree meant for the track, a weapon like no other Porsche offers (bar the GT2). The Turbo, is a GT/Sports machine, the 'ducks guts' of Porsche, the flagship. The GT3 is, as you have said, alot cheaper and has performance that does rival the Turbo. However, I don't think they're quite as close as u may think-the new 997 Turbo will be considerably quicker, have much more torque and a higher top speed-the GT3 will, however, run rings around the Turbo. In terms of picking one for the track, many would go for a GT3. In terms of picking one for everyday use and practicality you cannot go past the Turbo-a smooth luxury weapon/GT-as opposed to a harsh firm track machine. Finally for the wank factor, the Turbo, being the flagship, has full marks for prestige and image. | Ever driven a GT3?
