AutoWeek posted an article regarding the next generation Boxster, this time running in nearly final trim. The base Boxster will be powered by a lightly reworked 2.7-liter flat six producing about 238 hp and better low-end torque.

Look for the revamped roadster to debut at next January’s Detroit auto show, with the Boxster coupe’s premiere following at Frankfurt in fall 2005.

Photos of the Boxster S appear below. Note the double-pipe exhaust in the rear photo, one of the subtle visual differences between the base Boxster and its performance sibling. The new Boxster S' 3.2-liter flat six should push close to 270 hp when it debuts at the 2005 Detroit show or shortly thereafter.
