German car manufacturer Porsche is looking for a development partner to build a four-door model named Panamera, going in production in 2009. If none can be found, the project of a four-door GT sports car will then be handled completely by Porsche themselves.
Possible partners for the Panamera could be Volkswagen (most likely), Bentley or Toyota. Other possibilities which are less probable are Audi or BMW, as they are in a strong competition with Porsche. If a development partnership can't be found, Porsche will then take the full project on its own risk. An annual production rate of 20,000 units is focused with a unit price between 100,000 and 150,000 euro.
With the Panamera, Porsche will use technique elements of both the Cayenne and Carrera GT. Standard motorization will be a 4,5 liter V8 engine with 340 (normal aspired) and 450 HP (turbo) is planned. The top model is to be equipped with a V10, based on the Carrera GT engine, which will produce an output of over 600 HP. Both rear-wheel or all-wheel drive for the Panamera, among other features like double clutch transmission is planned. The four-door Porsche trunk will have a capacity of at least 450 litres, and the car should measure approximately 4.90 meters in length.
